nature-based soul work

About Doug Van Houten

About Doug Van Houten

Free series led by Doug Van Houten | July-Nov 2020.  This series is designed to guide one to true adulthood and visionary cultural artistry. The sessions are about gaining the skills, tools, and perspectives for this journey of descent.  There is a profound and unmet longing in contemporary culture for a life of deeper meaning, purpose, and fulfillment, and to experience our full membership in the more-than-human world especially at this critical juncture in human history. Contemporary society has lost connection to soul and the path to psychological and spiritual maturity. This journey to soul is a descent into layers of the self much deeper than personality, a journey quite distinct from the transcendence aspired to in many eastern spiritual disciplines. Doug has been guiding women and men into the wilderness — not just the outer wilderness of forest and desert canyons — but, more to the point, into their inner wilderness, the wilds and depths of psyche and soul.

Monthly on 2nd Monday - #1 Soulcentric Developmental Wheel by Bill Plotkin | #2 Nature-based Map of the Psyche (MOP) by Bill Plotkin | #3 Soulcentric Dreamwork | #4 The Four Sub-personalities

About Doug Van Houten

About Doug Van Houten

Doug draws on the wisdom of the natural world, depth-psychology, eco-psychology, dreams, somatic knowing, poetry, and many pan-cultural, soul furthering practices that include: The Way of Council, vision fasting, trance dancing and conversations with the more than human world. Doug’s true calling in life is to support others as they uncover their own unique gifts and in so doing, transform their lives in service to what Thomas Berry called ”The Great Work” of our times. Doug is also an ardent beekeeper, a visual artist, a wily wanderer, a dream tracker, an emergent ceremonialist, a heart-centered activist, and a budding yoga instructor interested in new forms of yoga and somatic practice.
